Magnificent BarStars

A particularly silly party game of persuasion and sabotage. Run a bar, mix ridiculous cocktails and talk your way to the top. For adults who should know better.

Your first round is free. Players join on their phones at playbarstars.com

How it works

Everyone runs a bar. Each round one player is the Customer: they draw a character and play them out loud. Everyone else mixes a cocktail from a glass and a handful of ingredients, pitches it, then starts a brawl to boost their own drink or sabotage the rest. The Customer picks a winner. The best talker wins, not the best hand.

  1. Open the game on a big screen

A TV, a laptop, anything with a web browser that everyone can see. Press Start a game.
  2. Everyone joins on their phone

Go to playbarstars.com and type the room code. Nothing to download, nothing to sign up for.
  3. Mix, pitch, brawl

Your cards stay secret on your phone. The talking happens out loud, in the room. 3 to 6 players.

Content note. Contains references to alcohol, innuendo and crude humour. Players type their own answers, which show on the shared screen (a hide-text switch is in the lobby). Recommended for ages 13 and up.

No card is explicit. A game is as rude or as clean as the people playing it.

Questions

What do I need?
One screen everyone can see with a web browser (a laptop, or a TV or laptop plugged into a TV), and a phone each for 3 to 6 players.
Does everyone need to buy it?
No. Only the person hosting needs the game. Everyone else just joins with their phone.
Can we play over a video call?
It's made for people in the same room, but if everyone can see the shared screen (share it on the call), it works.
Is it the same as the card game?
Yes. Same cards, same rules, same nonsense. The game just keeps track of the brawl for you.
